What is a Sanitary Flow Meter?

Sanitary flow meters refer to flow meters that adopt clamp-type technology and new sanitary lining materials and processes. The hygienic flow meter meets the hygienic requirements of the food industry and adopts stainless steel shell and stainless steel clamp connection technology.

The difference between sanitary flow meters and ordinary flow meters

A sanitary flow meter is a special flow meter specially used in food, mineral water, fruit juice, milk, pharmaceutical, beverage, and other industries, as a special flow meter for metering, batching, and controlling the filling of finished products. The body of the instrument is made of stainless steel (304 or 316L). The electrode and lining materials meet sanitary standards. The structure of the whole machine breaks through traditional technology and adopts foreign advanced structural optimization design, which greatly improves the accuracy and repeatability of the instrument.

Sanitary Electromagnetic Flow Meter

The hygienic electromagnetic flow meter is based on Faraday’s electromagnetic induction principle, and a pair of detection electrodes are installed on the tube wall perpendicular to the axis of the measuring tube and the magnetic force line. When the conductive liquid moves along the axis of the measuring tube, the conductive liquid cuts the magnetic force line to generate an induced potential. The induced potential is detected by two detection electrodes, and its value is proportional to the flow rate, and its value is: where: E=B.V.D.K

E - induced potential;

K - coefficient related to magnetic field distribution and axial length;

B - magnetic induction;

V - the average flow rate of conductive liquid;

D - Electrode spacing; (Measuring tube inner diameter)

The sensor transmits the induced potential E as a flow signal to the converter, and after amplification, conversion, filtering, and other signal processing, the instantaneous flow, and cumulative flow are displayed on the display. The converter has 4-20mA output, alarm output, and frequency output has communication interfaces such as RS-485 and supports HART and MODBUS protocols.

Sanitary liquid turbine flow meter

When the liquid to be measured flows through the sensor, under the action of the liquid, the rotation speed of the impeller is proportional to the average flow velocity of the pipeline when it is rotated under force. The rotation of the impeller changes the reluctance value of the magnetic circuit periodically, and the magnetic flux in the detection coil changes periodically accordingly, generating an induced electromotive force with the same rotation frequency as the blade for conversion and processing. Practical flow equation of turbine flow meter: Qv =f I K

In the formula:

Qv—is the volume flow

F—Frequency of flow meter output signal

K—meter factor of the flow meter

The relationship curve between coefficient and flow rate of sanitary liquid turbine flow meter. The instrument factor is divided into two sections. That is linear segments and nonlinear segments. The linear section is about two-thirds of its working section, and its characteristics are related to the sensor structure size and fluid viscosity. The characteristics of the nonlinear section are greatly affected by the friction of the bearing shaft and the viscous resistance of the fluid. When the fluid volume is lower than the lower limit of the sensor flow, the meter coefficient changes rapidly with the flow. When the flow exceeds the upper limit of the flow, care should be taken to prevent cavitation.

Sanitary Flow Meter Features

The new hygienic lining material prevents the build-up of measuring medium residues in the measuring tube.
With the quick connection scheme, the electromagnetic flow meter is easy to disassemble, maintain, and clean.

A 16-bit embedded processor is used for signal processing, which has the characteristics of high integration, fast operation speed, high calculation accuracy, fully digital signal processing, strong anti-interference ability, and reliable measurement.

What industries are sanitary flow meters used in?

Sanitary flow meters are widely used in the manufacturing process of mineral water, soy sauce, jam, beer, fruit juice, rice wine, milk and other foods, as well as in the fields of hygiene and chemical industry.
