Reading guide: It is not easy to choose the right flow meter. We should not only be familiar with the flow meter technology but also consider the fluid characteristics, fluid medium, and other factors in the production process.

No measurement method or flowmeter can adapt to various fluids and flow conditions. Different measurement methods and structures require different measurement operations, methods, and conditions. Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages. Here are some commonly used flowmeters for different media.

1.Recommendations for flow meters in water plants and water treatment processes: electromagnetic flow meters and ultrasonic flow meters are recommended. These two types of flow meters are the most important measuring instruments in the industry, especially for the flow meters of super large pipelines (above DN500), the ultrasonic plug-in flow meters and plug-in electromagnetic flow meters are of competitive price. Other V-cone flowmeters, vortex flowmeters, and orifice flowmeters can also be used.

2.Recommended flow meters for turbid liquids such as sewage and pulp: ultrasonic flow meters and electromagnetic flow meters are recommended. It should be noted that the liquid of the electromagnetic flowmeter should not contain much air or bubbles.

3.Recommended flow meter for liquid with more bubbles: Doppler ultrasonic flowmeter can be used to measure the liquid with bubbles, and the effect is very good.

4.Flow meters with low conductivity such as purified water and demineralized water are recommended. Ultrasonic flow meters are very suitable for measuring such fluids. If the external clip-type ultrasonic flowmeter is used, in addition to convenient installation, it will not pollute the measured liquid.

5.Recommended flow meters for acid, alkali, and other highly corrosive media: it is recommended to use an acid and alkali-resistant lined electromagnetic flowmeter (anti-corrosion electromagnetic flowmeter) or an external clip type ultrasonic flowmeter.

6.The flow meter for medium with large concentrations and solid particle content such as mortar and mortar is recommended as an electromagnetic flowmeter.

7.Flow meters for petroleum, diesel, and other oil media are recommended: ultrasonic flowmeter, oval gear flowmeter, liquid turbine flowmeter, etc.

8.Recommendations for air, steam, natural gas, and other gas flowmeters: there are many types of gas flowmeters, and vortex flowmeters, orifice flowmeters, V-cone flowmeters, gas turbine flowmeters, etc. are recommended.

9.Recommendations for medium flow meters with high viscosity such as asphalt: oval gear flowmeter.

The key to the type selection of a flowmeter is to determine the mode of flow sampling device and the type and specification of the flowmeter according to the nature and flow situation of the fluid being measured. The type selection should * conform to the process and specific working conditions of the user, consider the accuracy class and cost performance of the flowmeter and also consider the safety of measurement. As long as the above aspects are comprehensively considered, there will be no major problems in the selection of the flowmeter.
