First, the installation point: the selection of the installation point is the key to the correct measurement. The selection of the installation point must consider the following factors: full pipe, steady flow, scaling, temperature, and interference.
Treatment of mounting points: There are two mounting points for external clamp-type sensors, which are divided into upstream sensors and downstream sensors. When processing these two mounting points, the processing area of one mounting point is about the same as the sensor size, and the processing area of the other mounting point should be about twice the sensor size (centered on the mounting point), so as to facilitate signal debugging. First, clean the area outside the pipe where the sensor is to be installed to remove rust and paint. If there is any rust-proof layer, it should also be removed. It is better to use a grinder to polish the metal luster, and then use a clean rag to wipe off the oil and dust.
Fixation of sensor: Apply a 2-3 mm thick random coupling agent on the signal generator of the sensor, and then stick the sensor tightly to the pipe wall. Pay attention to the correct emission direction of the sensor, and there shall be no air and sand between the sensor and the pipe wall. Fasten the sensor with cloth tape or tensioner after positioning.
Debugging of sensor: apply a 4-5mm thick coupling agent attached to the machine at the center of the installation point with a large processing area (the purpose of applying the coupling agent is to isolate the air on the sensor surface and the pipe surface and reduce the loss of ultrasonic wave in different media), and then stick the sensor tightly to the pipe wall. Pay attention to the correct emission direction of the sensor, and there should be no air and sand between the sensor and the pipe wall. With the center point as the reference, first, move the sensor slightly in the horizontal direction to find the maximum value of the signal strength and Q value, and then move the sensor slightly in the vertical direction to find the maximum value of the signal strength and Q value. Then slightly adjust the transmission angle of the sensor to find the maximum value of signal strength and Q value. The sensor can then be positioned.
