Vortex Flowmeter in Measurement of Steam

The measurement of steam flow is related to the density of steam, which changes with the temperature and pressure of steam. Therefore, in order to improve the accuracy of steam flow measurement and reduce measurement error, it is necessary to make reasonable temperature and pressure compensation and correct the density in the steam flow measurement. Steam is divided into saturated steam and superheated steam. Due to the different properties of steam, steam density is different under the same pressure. Therefore, the measurement methods used in the measurement of steam flow are different. Measuring instruments, meters, and compensation methods shall be reasonably selected according to the nature of the measured steam.

Saturated steam has the following characteristics.

1. The temperature and pressure of saturated steam are one-to-one corresponding, and there is only one independent variable between them.

2. Saturated steam is easy to condense. If there is heat loss in the transmission process, the temperature and pressure will decrease. Strictly speaking; Saturated steam more or less contains a two-phase fluid of liquid droplets or liquid mist, so the same gas equation of state cannot be used to describe different states.

3. It is difficult to accurately measure the saturated steam flow because the dryness of saturated steam is difficult to guarantee. Generally, flowmeters cannot accurately detect the flow of two-phase fluid. The fluctuation of steam pressure will cause a change in steam density, and the indication of the flowmeter will cause additional errors. Therefore, in steam metering, the dryness of steam at the measuring point must be maintained to meet the requirements. If necessary, compensation measures should be taken to achieve accurate measurements.

The temperature and pressure of saturated steam are corresponding, so only one of the two data needs to be monitored, and then the corresponding density value can be found according to the saturated steam density table. The mass flow of saturated steam can be calculated by multiplying the volume flow of steam. Therefore, the measurement of saturated steam mass flow can adopt the following three compensation methods:
